1. Tell the story about what this nominated department achieved since the beginning of July last year (up to 500 words). Focus on specific accomplishments, and relate these accomplishments to past performance or industry norms. Be sure to mention obstacles overcome, innovations or discoveries made, and outcomes:
Since the beginning of this year, it seems as though a day has not gone by without sensational headlines depicting the country's worsening economy. There has been an average loss of 84,000 jobs per month since January, and in September 2008, the overall unemployment rate jumped to 6.1 percent. Many businesses have responded by cutting back on or becoming more cautious in their hiring. In spite of all of this, one thing has remained clear: as economic conditions change, we must respond by shifting the way that we do business.
As the second-largest sales division within the Careerbuilder.com organization, the Recruiter Business Unit (RBU), led by Todd McCormick, kicked off 2008 with a commitment to success by focusing on the following three major initiatives:
1. Center attention on employee development and education to foster overall personal and professional growth 2. Prove value to clients through measurable results, exceptional customer service, training and communication 3. Establish strong partnerships with clients by presenting solutions that are strategically aligned with their overall business objectives
By reinforcing these three initiatives, the RBU has had a successful three quarters in spite of the economic situation. Year to date the RBU has achieved 30 percent growth; in comparison to the same time last year and we anticipate closing the year on a positive note. This growth can be largely attributed to our focus on building meaningful relationships, which contributed to expanded partnerships with many of our clients.
Successful training and development programs have helped foster growth within our sales representatives as well, with over five promotions in the last quarter. These programs have included sales rep and leadership development trainings; various product driven trainings; and a number of external trainings designed to enhance rep skill sets and overall growth.
We look forward to 2009 and anticipate another successful year by staying focused on developing our people and helping our customers grow their business.
