1. Tell the story of this nominated product or service (up to 500 words): its function, its features and benefits, and how it differs from competitive offerings. Include in your description the date in 2004 on which this product or service was introduced to the U.S. marketplace:
It was the day after the World Trade Center tragedy on September 12, 2001 when PottieStickers and creator Tammie Aaron-Barrada, were both put to the test. Tammie’s husband had been diagnosed with cancer just after they lost their third child. The daily trips for radiation, doctor’s appointments and chemotherapy treatments resulted in placing their two toddlers in day care and in the hands of neighbors since family was over 800 miles away. A few weeks later Tammie’s husband lost his battle with cancer.
Now widowed with a handful of PottieStickers and two toddlers to raise, Tammie was devastated and faced with financial challenges as Tammie’s husband did not have life insurance. Determined to make it, she pursued her goals in honor of her husband and for her children. It all started with Tammie’s perseverance. She wrote a patent for PottieStickers and a killer business plan which was polished to perfection winning the 2003 WriteIdea contest and Aaron Barrada, Inc. was born.
Aaron Barrada, Inc. was the first company to provide a toilet training reward system designed specifically for traveling children of today. Aaron Barrada, Inc. recognized and filled the void of today's family-on-the-go-lifestyle toilet training by marketing and selling its ingenious PottieStickers® via their website http://www.pottiestickers.com/ and specialty baby stores in the fall of 2004. In 2005, PottieStickers will be offered to the public via retail, pharmacy and grocery stores where diapers are sold.
Recommended by Pediatricians, Child Psychiatrists, Daycares, parents and grandparents, PottieStickers “No Wrong Way” design sets are a big hit and travel well with parents and children. Whether mom carries a set in her purse, leaves one at grandmas house or daycare, each 8 1/2”x11” fold out picture has correlating 5 1/2”x8 1/2” stickers to give one PottieStickers for sitting, give two PottieStickers for a pee, & give three PottieStickers for a poopy. No matter how a child places the sticker, they are correct through the design patent. The extremely thick stickers are designed for one and two year old little fingers but with colorful intricate details. http://www.pottiestickers.com/stickers.htm Kids love the FREE certificates parents give them from the web site. http://www.pottiestickers.com/certificates.htm
PottieStickers retail for only $12.99 for three sets while the average cost of other toilet training systems start at $20 to $80 and consist of wall charts, board games, dolls and products that just don't travel well with children. Most importantly, PottieStickers exceeded the standards of conforming to ASTM-F963 and 16CFR consumer product safety requirements.
Thirty years ago children were toilet trained by 15-20 months of age. Now they are 3-4 years old before trying. Diaper costs $100/month not to mention creams and wipes. Specialists see more problems due to late toilet training. Reports find bladder and urinary tract infections, constipation, stretching of the bowel, colon pockets, these serious happenings result in pulips which always turn into cancer if untreated.
Aaron Barrada, Inc. is dedicated to developing children's educational products that help children learn new tasks to promote independence and enhance self-esteem to make life easier for mothers and care givers. Their mission includes developing quality products at reasonable prices with the goal of educating and empowering children, our leaders of tomorrow.
