Judging of nominations is conducted in two phases: preliminary and final. Preliminary judges are recruited worldwide, volunteer to judge on the Stevie Awards for Women in Business web site, and are accepted or disqualified, and assigned categories by Stevie Awards staff, based on their industry, function, and experience.
During preliminary judging, each nomination is reviewed and rated by no fewer than five (5) volunteer judges who were approved as qualified (by Stevie Awards staff) to judge those nominations. All nominations are viewed and rated at the judges' convenience over the Internet. Rating is done on a scale of 1-10.
All nominations that receive an average score of 7.00 or higher in the preliminary round of judging, regardless of category, automatically become Finalists, and will receive a Certificate of Finalist Recognition if they don't also move on to become a Stevie Award winner.
Members of the Board of Distinguished Judges & Advisors perform the final judging. This too is conducted online They rate the Finalists, and their average scores determine the Stevie Awards winners.
