Nomination Title: Maggie Bauer, Group Vice President for Enterprise Technologies

Describe for the judges the activities and accomplishments of the nominated executive during the eligibility period (up to 500 words):

Shortly after joining HPTi in July 2010, Maggie established three guiding leadership principles for her Division: Delighting Our Customers, Growing Our Business, and Mentoring Our Staff. With clients that include the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), the Food and Drug Administration, and the U.S. Treasury, her efforts and those of her team benefit every American. Maggie keeps the end user in mind as she grows her business and inspires her team of technology experts to deliver some of the most meaningful technology services in the country.

Delighting Her Customers:

Maggie manages the Enterprise Technologies Division (ETD) at HPTi. Among her projects is the Veterans Relationship Management (VRM). Under Maggie’s guidance, HPTi has helped the VA improve the way in which America’s 23 million living Veterans interact with their benefits. Another of her teams ensures that electronic payments from the U.S. Treasury reach their intended recipients (e.g., Social Security and tax refund payees). The secure system processes over 1 billion transactions annually, with a value of $1.6 trillion. Maggie makes sure her teams see beyond the technology challenges to the people counting on these vital services.

Growing Her Business:

HPTi’s clients notice Maggie’s investment in their mission—leading to new and expanded contracts. VRM has led to additional funding from the VA, expanding HPTi’s healthcare business. Since the beginning of VRM in 2010, HPTi has added a third of its workforce in support of the contract. Additionally, VRM represents over $126 million in revenue for HPTi. Maggie has grown ETD to generate nearly 50% of HPTi’s revenue. During her tenure, ETD’s year-over-year business grew at an impressive 40%. Maggie’s continued success has also grown her division to serve new clients like the Centers for Disease Control and the Military Health Service. By identifying, strategically pursuing, and winning work with new clients, Maggie has expanded HPTi’s support of vital American missions and grown her business. Thanks to Maggie, ETG is HPTi’s most profitable operating group.

Mentoring Her Staff:

As Maggie continues to increase HPTi’s client base, she instills understanding and pride in her staff. She feels that if her staff understands the importance of the contract’s mission, (e.g., Veterans and returning soldiers receiving top-notch medical treatment), her team will go the extra mile to meet the client’s needs. Under her leadership, ETD customer satisfaction scores increased dramatically with an impressive overall score of 97%, with one of the three accounts in her Division scoring 100% among all surveyed customers.

Maggie also established a quarterly off-site meeting for her leadership team to discuss clients, business growth, and staff mentoring. She meets on a monthly basis with all leaders in her Division – approximately 30 staff members – to collaborate and share success stories among the leadership team. A significant number of ETD staff members were promoted to Leadership positions, and one of her direct reports received the annual Summit Award, HPTi’s highest and most prestigious excellence award.

Maggie Bauer’s commitment to her clients and people has not only grown HPTi, it has benefited our nation.
