Ursula Burns was named by Forbes magazine as number 27 on their annual list of the World’s Most Powerful Women in August of 2011. (5)

Xerox Corp. launched its most expensive advertising campaign in two decades in September of 2010, as Chief Executive Ursula Burns looks to eposition the company as more than just a copier maker. (8)

President Barack Obama is sought ideas from the business world on the economy at a meeting with more than a half dozen CEOs in August of 2011. Ursula Burns, Chairman and CEO, Xerox was the only woman in attendance at this meeting. Other CEOs in attendance were: Kenneth Chenault, Chairman and CEO, American Express; Richard Davis, Chairman, President and CEO, U.S. Bank; Larry Fink, Chairman and CEO, BlackRock; Glenn Hutchins, Co-CEO, Silver Lake Partners; John Stumpf, Chairman, President, and CEO, Wells Fargo; John Surma, Chairman and CEO, U.S. Steel; Bill Weldon, Chairman and CEO, Johnson& Johnson. Ms. Burns has spent the nearly two years since she took on the CEO role trying has cut into the company's traditional hardware line. In three years, two-thirds of company revenue will likely come from "services," or contracts to manage other companies' back office operations such as printing, human-resources and other areas of their business, she says.

Provide a brief biography of the nominated executive (up to 100 words):

Burns joined Xerox in 1980 as a mechanical engineering summer intern and later assumed roles in product development and planning. Through 2000, Burns led several business teams including the office color and fax business and office network printing. In 2000, she was named SVP, Corporate Strategic Services.

In April 2007, Burns was named president of Xerox, expanding her leadership to also include the company's IT organization, corporate strategy, human resources, corporate marketing and global accounts. Burns was named CEO in July 2009 and assumed the role of chairman of the company on May 20, 2010.

Burns earned a BS degree in mechanical engineering from Polytechnic Institute of NYU and a master‘s degree in mechanical engineering from Columbia.
