Kari Stover joined MWW Group in 2010 as Senior Vice President, Corporate Affairs bringing considerable leadership experience in cause marketing, corporate social responsibility, international relations, healthcare and government affairs. In her role with the firm, Kari is responsible for expanding MWW Group’s corporate social responsibility programs with MWW Group clients, emphasizing the value of market based solutions for domestic and international social goals. Current MWW Group projects include:
• African River Blindness Program (celebrating 15 years of partnership success): a global health partnership to eliminate river blindness, operating in 19 African countries and reaching more than 50 million people each year with treatment. • Jimmy Dean’s cause marketing program to help eliminate hunger in the U.S. • ZeroBase: a renewable energy program for the UN and international partners working in the fragile states and developing nations • MASSIVEGOOD: founded by the Millennium Foundation, a Swiss organization, to save the lives of the most vulnerable from life-threatening diseases such as HIV/AIDS, TB and malaria by making it easy for all those who travel to make a simple $2 donation during their ticketing or reservation process. • Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN): a Swiss foundation created in 2002 at a Special Session of the United Nations General Assembly on Children to deliver healthier foods and supplements to the poorest and most vulnerable populations globally. GAIN and their partners are delivering improved nutrition to an estimated 273 million people, half of whom are women and children, in more than 25 countries.
Kari has over fifteen years of experience in global strategy, fundraising and leadership experience with non-profit, medical research and treatment organizations. She has been active in the Clinton Global Initiative since its inception and has made key contacts with policy makers and opinion leaders in the United States, Europe, Latin America, and Africa.
Prior to joining MWW Group, Stoever was the President and Founder of Meliora Global, LLC, a firm focused on growth strategies for nonprofits and social ventures, where she helped clients build multi-sector collaborative partnerships to achieve their local, regional or global goals.
Preceding her role at Meliora, she helped establish and was the Managing Director of the Global Network for Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTD) – where she managed more than $37 million in grants by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Under her leadership, the Global Network secured more than US $100 million in financial commitments and contributed in the development of a USG $1 billion, 5- year strategy for NTDs. As part of her work for NTD, Kari was one of the pioneer founders of the Rwanda NTD control program which aims to reduce morbidity of three diseases. Kari was a key partner of this program in every respect: advocacy, fundraising, and practical implementation. Kari’s work in advocacy has raised the profile of NTDs among policymakers, leaders and the public. She participated in two nationwide mass drug administration campaigns during which over 8 million Rwandan children were dewormed.
Previously, Kari spent several years managing clinical research studies in cancer and infectious diseases. Additionally, she spent a year working for the Department of Defense at the United States Army Medical Research Institute for infectious diseases (USAMRIID) managing anthrax and other bio defense studies.
Kari is a gifted communicator and ombudsman and, combined with her ability to shape social responsibility programs, a natural choice for The Stevie Award for the Women in Business.
