What does it take for today’s generation of women to succeed in business? Jamie Minier knows. As a college intern who rose through the ranks to company President of a fifty-million dollar enterprise, Jamie’s career has been noteworthy.
Starting as a marketing intern with Selective Staffing in 1995, Jamie was hired full time as a marketing associate upon graduation. In 1998, Selective Staffing sold to Aon consulting where Jamie continued to take on increased responsibility and was eventually appointed Assistant Vice President. In 2003, Selective Staffing founder Terry Terhark left Aon and formed The RightThing where Jamie was appointed Marketing Vice President in 2006. In this role, she was instrumental in building brand, growing employees, client base and revenue by over 160%. Named Chief Operating Officer in 2007, Jamie led the company in opening the industry’s first stand alone recruitment operations center, and was a key player in The RightThing’s game changing acquisition of AIRS. Promoted to company President in August of 2008, Jamie established a comprehensive global outsourcing solution and introduced a recruitment process outsourcing solution to the small and medium business market. Jamie also oversaw the realignment of The RightThing’s operational delivery model by establishing strategic Centers of Excellence in global recruiting, mining and more. As a testament to Jamie’s ability to deliver relevant solutions in a time of need, The RightThing launched a successful new outplacement solution for companies looking to downsize that cut costs by up to 50% and allowed companies to maintain a better relationship with transitioning workers. Growing The RightThing’s national footprint, Jamie also oversaw the opening of a California office and helped lead the company to record breaking quarters in both Q3 and Q4 of 2008. Jamie’s leadership also helped drive the company toward the designation of the industry’s number one provider in HRO Today’s annual rankings.
Serving in many different operational areas throughout her career has helped Jamie keep a good perspective on the importance of recognizing and rewarding employees. Jamie shows appreciation through company-wide weekly e-mails, employee acknowledgements at staff meetings and sends birthday and anniversary cards to each employee. Jamie’s impact and involvement on company culture has been one of the driving forces that earned The RightThing a designation on SHRM’s “Top 25 Medium Companies to Work For in America” list for three consecutive years.
Securing the role of President at the age of thirty-four is a testament to Jamie’s success however, in her biggest role of all, Jamie is a mother of two, one with special needs. Jamie makes it a priority to be an active leader, speaker and mentor for other executive mothers, providing advice and support to help them to succeed in both roles. Jamie was recently recognized by HRO Today as an HRO Superstar, a designation given to individuals who have made a major impact on HR Outsourcing in 2008 and are leading the way in 2009 and also named a finalist in the annual Human Resources Outsourcing Association awards as Executive Provider of the Year.
