    It is a privilege to nominate Dr. Laureen Wishom for The Mentor of the Year Award. 
    She is the Owner, President and Chief Solutionary Officer (CSO) of Masterpiece
    Solutions, LLC. This firm is a full service, woman-owned business development,
    marketing, branding, training, and image management firm located in Houston,
    Texas with a sister company in Dallas, Texas. Masterpiece has served
    entrepreneurs, intra-preneurs, solo-preneurs, small business owners, and non-
    profits in Houston and Dallas since 1998. Masterpiece Solutions, LLC has been
    referred to as the Million Dollar Company with Million Dollar Solutionary
    Consultants. Seventy-five percent of Masterpiece’s clients are women.

    Masterpiece is a consortium of highly-skilled consultants whose combined
    experience totals over 75 years. These Solutionary Consultants possess the skill
    sets and knowledge necessary to provide consulting services around the world to
    corporations, companies, organizations, non-profits and small businesses - from
    corporate executives and career professionals to sole proprietors and individuals.

    Dr. Laureen possesses outstanding leadership skills, which is demonstrated by
    her board service and involvement with community-based organizations. She has
    recently been appointed to Houston’s Small Business Administration Advisory
    Board. She is board member of Grantwriters Network, Inc., and a member of the
    Greater Houston Partnership, Houston Rotary Club, Museum of Fine Arts, Women
    Professionals in Government, The Professional Group, the Association of
    Professional Researchers Advanced, and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. She is
    a supporter of The Ensemble Theater and the Houston Ballet. She is a lay
    Chaplain and certified Hospice Volunteer.

    She is one of the top ten finalists for the 2007 Businesses Achievement Pinnacle
    Award and is a nominee for Houston Woman Magazine’s Houston’s 50 Most
    Influential Women Award.

    As a freelance writer, her articles have been published in numerous Houston-
    based and online publications. She received “Expert Author” status from
    EzineArticles.com. She published a series of “how to” books: writing grant
    proposals, preparing a business plan, starting a first time business, networking
    effectively, and obtaining government contracts. She appeared on DayStar TV
    Channel 20 (KLTJ) addressing issues relating to anger management and was
    featured on the KTSU (90.9) Business Segment.

    She produces the 501(c)3 News, TheSource™ Newsletter, Women at the Top
    Newsletter, and publishes a marketing, listening and communication blog
    (www.bizmarketingsolutions.biz). She is the founder/facilitator of the Entrepreneur
    and Small Business Roundtable (ESBR) which host free monthly roundtables for
    women-owned businesses, small business owners, and entrepreneurs. Yearly,
    she donates $10,000 in complimentary consulting and professional development
    services to a women-owned businesses or newly formed non-profit. On 9/25/07,
    she launched The Greater Houston Resource Guide which has a special section
    dedicated to women-owned businesses/entrepreneurs.

    During the past ten years, she has mentored over 500 women, spoken before
    5,000+ women on subjects that include image management, social graces,
    business etiquette, and business development and business growth. This year
    she has mentored 20 business and career women and is currently mentoring two
    University of Houston female students through Masterpiece Solutions’ Internship
    Program. Both interns are seeking their degree through the prestigious U of H
    Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation (CEI) Program.

    Dr. Laureen Wishom is an ebullient motivational speaker, pulsating writer, grant 
    writer, fund developer, marketing strategist, and strategic planner. She energizes
    and catapults her clients to their next level through her business consulting, and
    marketing tactics. Dr. Laureen holds a Board Governance and Leadership
    certification and the Productivity Education certification from the Academy of
    Human Potential. She is the CSO of Masterpiece Solutions, LLC a Houston and
    Dallas-based firm.

    She holds a Bachelor’s degree in General Education, Master’s degree in
    Psychology/Sociology, and a Ph.D. in Psychology/Christian Counseling. She is a
    Rotarian, Certified Hospice Volunteer and a Commissioned Lay Chaplain.
