Shaun Battlemann started his career as an educator. However, over the years his unwavering commitment to excellence--and, more importantly, his commitment to helping the poor, the sick, and the needy, without being concerned about recognition or titles or power structures--led him to be an entrepreneurial addict and to open his own company. Today that company occupies an important place in South Africa’s political, economic, and sociocultural evolution.
In 2003, Shaun founded African Access Holdings, a diversified investment company that acts as a springboard for emergent black entrepreneurs. The company was founded as the result of a challenge from the South African National Department of Education to provide Learner/Teacher Support Material (LTSM) in an accountable and verifiable manner. EduSolutions, the worlds first online audiovisual verification database, was built in cooperation with Azraa Audio Visual Software (AVS), an African Access subsidiary. EduSolutions now provides a successful end-to-end LTSM product to schools in South Africa's Gauteng Province, Kwa-Zulu Natal, Limpopo Province, and Mpumalanga Province.
As Chief Executive Officer of African Access Holdings, Shaun combines an infectious drive for success and a passion for education with an ability not just to listen, but also to hear. His astuteness and business acumen have been at the centre of African Access’s success, and Shaun is the brand’s primary advocate and nurturer. In addition to serving as CEO of African Access Holdings, Shaun serves as a director on the boards of some 50 companies across the country including LND Projects, Edu Management Solution, Prop Access, Ndabi Investment, Edu Access Holdings, African Access International, Chanti Travel, CJM Property Developments, and African Access Agriculture.
