Dr Richard Ong is a self-made entrepreneur who has been managing his own business since he was 27. He was the driving force behind the establishment of the Smart Reader® franchised programs, and his enterprising attitude has helped turn the Smart Reader® Worldwide brands—the Smart Reader Kids® franchised education program and the licensed Smart Reader® English program—into household names in Malaysia.
Dr Ong's emphasis on quality management and branding has enabled Smart Reader® Worldwide to become an award-winning company with trademarks of excellence and quality. To date, Smart Reader® Worldwide has initiated employment opportunities for over 5,000 educators, as well as more than 500 entrepreneurs worldwide.
A prominent figure on the Malaysian franchising scene, Dr Ong is a regular speaker and spokesperson at franchise talks and conventions including the UNCTAD/WTO World Export Development Forum. With extensive experience in franchising, especially in Asian countries like Thailand, the Philippines, and China, he has a wealth of information to share and good advice to offer newcomers to the franchise fraternity.
