SDL has been heavily investing in machine translation technologies for the last five years and decided last year that it would make good business sense to acquire Language Weaver, the leading provider of statistical machine translation.

Since then SDL developers and Language Weaver developers have been further developing technologies that will allow for an all communicating world. In October 2010 SDL released SDL BeGlobal. SDL BeGlobal™ is the industry’s first cloud platform for real-time automated translation. For the first time, any business user across the organization is empowered to communicate with their customer - in the language of the customer’s choice - through the industry’s most powerful automated translation solution. A user-friendly, secure web application allows any business user to become a multilingual publisher and communicator.

Key Features -

TouchPoints
With the set up of a single communication ‘TouchPoint’, SDL BeGlobal allows users to manage the multilingual interaction between them and their customers.

Trusted Output with TrustScore
Our translation engines are trained in multiple domains and come with SDL TrustScore™ ranked outputs – our patent pending algorithm for ensuring that quality needs are met.

Brand & Terminology Management
SDL BeGlobal’s term and brand lists enable users to quickly and easily control the translated output of specific terminology, thereby ensuring that our customer’s brand messaging and global trademarks are consistent across all of their global content.

Automatic Quality Improvement
Unlike crowdsourcing systems that require a participative crowd to suggest improvements for every translation, SDL BeGlobal’s algorithms flag translations with low confidence or with unknown words. As these are addressed within the system, the translation engines become more effective and improve over time.

Usability and Benefits -

Central Place to Manage Real-Time Communication. SDL BeGlobal delivers a central portal making it easy for business users to manage and access all automated translation activities.

Consumer Grade User Interface
The application replicates a familiar desktop environment, so any user can quickly understand how to use the application.

Reporting and Analytics
SDL BeGlobal’s easy-to-use reporting helps users uncover the wealth of insights contained in their multilingual translation data. Everyone from executives to content managers are never more than a few clicks away from the insight they need to make smart business decisions.

Successes
The unique machine translation product has created a lot of buzz within the industry. SDL has signed agreements with 20+ new enterprise customers since its launch in October 2010. The product has generated high value and rapid return for commercial customers.

List hyperlinks to any online news stories, press releases, video clips, work samples, or other documents that support the claims made in the section above. IMPORTANT: Begin each link with http://, and enclose each link in square brackets; for example, [http://www.youraddress.com]:

As testament to the high performance levels of SDL BeGlobal, the product has been named a finalist in the TechWorld Awards and CODiE Awards. Ken Wasch, President of the Software and Information Industry Association, praised SDL BeGlobal for "its commitment to quality, excellence and innovation.”

Mary LaPlante from Gilbane Group commented, “Customers expect real-time content seven days a week, twenty-four hours a day, in their language. SDL BeGlobal is a timely market response to the growing demand for solutions that address these challenges. It offers game-changing capabilities for companies that want to bring user-generated content into broader strategies and practices for managing multilingual content.”
