2006 was a milestone year for Matt Bross. He was named as one of InfoWorld’s Top 25 ‘Most influential CTO’s 2006’ and as one of Silicon.com’s ‘Top 50 agenda setters 2006’
In 2006 Matt became a board member of the Alliance for Telecommunications Industry Solutions (ATIS), the US based body focusing on the development and promotion of technical and operations standards for the communications and related information technology industry globally. ATIS is accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). As 2007 approached, Matt was given the honour of being invited to become an Executive Director. In addition to this, throughout 2006 Matt has been involved with the Global Information Infrastructure Commission (GIIC). Matt is a commissioner of the GIIC and is Regional Director for Europe. GIIC is a confederation of CxO level executives engaged in the development, deployment, operations, financing, and use of ICT services and products.
Matt Bross is the visionary behind BT’s 21st Century Network programme – 21CN. This is BT’s world leading next generation network transformation programme, considered the most radical and ambitious in the world. 21CN has inspired products such as BT Vision, BT Fusion and BT Movio. Ultimately 21CN stimulates innovation, enables growth and will generate £1bn cash savings by 2008/09. In November 2006, BT began the first stage of migration onto the 21st Century Network (21CN) in Cardiff and the surrounding area. The programme will be fully rolled out across the UK over the next few years.
In addition, Matt leads BT’s innovation strategy. He has overall responsibility for BT’s global research budget and global innovation scouting teams, as well as collaborations with universities across the world. In 2006, Matt re-launched BT’s new ideas scheme, a scheme designed to encourage employees to submit new innovative ideas and be rewarded for those ideas which are taken on to further development.
Matt finished 2006 on a high, when he launched the 21CN Global Venture in December 2006. Matt is extending his 21CN vision globally, by working with network operators to help them benefit from BT’s expertise in next-generation networks and business transformation.

Matt Bross is responsible for setting the BT Group technology strategy and the vision and direction of innovation across BT, including BT’s Research and Venturing efforts globally.
Matt is also the leading force behind BT’s multi-billion pound, 21st Century Network transformation.
He is the European Regional Director for the Global Information Infrastructure Commission (GIIC), an executive board member of the Alliance for Telecommunications Industry Solutions (ATIS) and Chairman on the Board of Advisors for the Global Innovation Research Centre (GIRC).
Matt is married with five children and proud to have one of the coolest jobs on the planet.
