When Jim Taylor became CEO of Thomas Group, Inc. in 2004, he took the reins of a company facing a loss of shareholder confidence negative retrained earnings and minimal profitability. Mr. Taylor was elected because of the outstanding job he had done as CFO for Thomas Group from 2001-2003 in controlling cost and mounting the financial recovery of the firm. Starting 2001 cash was needed, the bank line of credit was frozen and the stock was at a low of $0.05 per share. Money was found through sub debt and a private equity placement. Additionally, the employees agreed to an across the board pay reduction for all. The result was a stabilization of operations with no loss of employees, which is critical to a consulting company. Mr. Taylor found himself leading the operations of a company which had been de-listed from the NASDAQ, needing a new line of credit and working through a difficult debt structure.
The corporate brand was associated with 27 years of leadership in the process improvement and exponential change for others. The question was could he lead this team to excellence from within?

President and Chief Executive Officer for Elcon Industries, A partner with Coopers & Lybrand (currently PriceWaterhouseCoopers) led the Mergers and Acquisitions Group for the Southwest Region.
