Nomination Category: Individual Awards Categories

Nomination Sub Category: Best Human Resources Executive

Nomination Title: Kim Martin, VP, Human Resource

   1. Tell the story about what this nominee achieved in the past year (up to 500 words). Focus on specific accomplishments, and relate these accomplishments to past performance or industry norms. Be sure to mention obstacles overcome, innovations or discoveries made, and outcomes:

On January 2005, Cybertrust had been in existence for little more than a month and a half. The company was formed through a merger between TruSecure and Betrusted, a majority owner of the Belgium-based company, Ubizen. As with all acquisitions, Cybertrust was faced with a series of newfound strengths and challenges.

The company had no centralized operations. While the three merger companies were of roughly equal size (approximately $50 million), Betrusted and TruSecure were each formed by multiple acquisitions, leaving the remnants of 18 different companies within Cybertrust. The company also now was more than 1,000 employees strong.

Within its first 12 months, the company's human resources department, under the leadership of Kim Martin, achieved results nothing short of transformational. The human resources team centralized its function and established a strong employee and corporate program, all following best-practices.

Specifically, the team:

*          Implemented global processes for recording headcount, recruiting and new hires, as well as coordinating with the information services department to formalize a new user and termination process.

*          Created and implemented a global merit award program for employees.

*          Merged the benefits structure throughout the U.S., and negotiated a  6% benefits increase for 2005.

*          Established and implemented a global performance evaluation and career development program, which rolled out in April/May of last year.

*          Merged three U.S. benefit programs resulting in a 6% increase in benefits, and conducted the first open enrollment in June.

*          Enhanced benefit platforms to include additional floating holiday in 2006, partner benefits and an FSA Extension.

*          Implemented a 401(k) match in the United States.

*          Designed and developed a global compensation program, which included a

global compensation benchmarking study to ensure the company's salary program was competitive.

*          Developed, designed and implemented a New Employee Orientation program.

*          Designed and recommended employee relations programs.

*          Created and distributed employee handbooks for each region of the organization (with regional specific information), as well as more than 11 global policies, with countless variations for each region, and with an automated 'policy review' form attached to all of the documents to track employee acknowledgements stating they read and understood the policies.

*          Launched a robust HR Intranet - complete with resources, forms, details, handbook and anniversary and new hire information.

*          Completed the review and rewrite of all global job descriptions, and job mapping/leveling.

*          Designed and developed interview training skills program to be implemented in 2006.
