Company Description: Saatchi & Saatchi is the world's most famous agency brand. Founded in 1988 we are the only Ideas Company & the #1 Creative Ad Agency in Thailand. Our 80-man office is a strategic and creative powerhouse. We win creative awards locally and at Cannes, we win new business & we grow our clients’ business beyond their expectations. We are proud of our achievements how we do it: Ideas, Passion, Teamwork
Nomination Category: Organization Awards Categories
Nomination Sub Category: Best Creative Organization

Nomination Title: Saatchi & Saatchi Ideas Company

Tell the story about what this nominated organization achieved in the past year (up to 500 words). Focus on specific accomplishments, and relate these accomplishments to past performance or industry norms. Be sure to mention obstacles overcome, innovations or discoveries made, and outcomes:

Our 2003 challenge was to become the envy of the Thai advertising industry, and
we did it in style winning a clutch of awards and being crowned the #1 creative
agency by Campaign Brief. We were the # 1 creative agency at TACT 2003 and
the Asia Pacific Ad Festival 2003, winning more awards than any other agency.
And based on awards won in 2003 alone, Saatchi Bangkok scored more points
than any other agency in the entire Asia-Pacific region. That’s not just hot, that’s
sizzling!

How did we do it?
We believe in doing things differently.
We live a dream that fires the imagination and sparks peak performance: "to be
revered as a hothouse for world changing ideas that transform brands and
businesses". We believe that nothing is impossible and we work together with a
united spirit - "one team, one dream".

Who’d have thought to advertise Lily Farm flowers’ inner beauty through X-rays?
And who’d have believed that a Lexus launch event that didn’t feature cars could
set a new standard in luxury? And can you take an old ladies drink and make it
appeal to teens? Difficult, yes. Impossible, no. We turned around Spy Wine
Cooler’s image and business through a big, transformational idea.

Thinking outside the box, thinking big, making a difference.
And, ultimately resulting in transformational ideas.

To build Sylvania’s fluorescent bulb business, we innovatively created a seasonal
demand where none existed. “You can’t!” the traditionalists mocked. But you can,
and we did. In Thailand people make merit by donating candles to the temples
during Lent. We developed a zany campaign that demonstrated donating
fluorescent bulbs instead of candles (or return as a cockroach in the next life), and
the bulbs flew off the shelves creating an unprecedented out-of-stock situation for
our client. Creative solutions to traditional problems.

We are also the Center of Excellence for all of Asean, Australia and India for
Procter & Gamble. Strategy and creative developed in Bangkok made huge
inroads for our P&G brands including doubling Olay business in Singapore and
Malaysia and cementing our #1 position as the anti-aging moisturizer in Thailand.

It is impossible to communicate the full measure of our creativity and success
here, but the attached list of creative awards and press articles provide
perspective - especially the article from Campaign Brief Asia.

We set three objectives for our office this year and exceeded every one:
1. Win Awards (An outstanding list!)
2. Win clients (Six terrific new clients this year.)
3. Grow our Clients’ Business (P&G, Sylvania, Samart, Lexus – the list
goes on.)
We transform brands and businesses because we: lead not service, surprise not
deliver, think not act, do not say, and take ownership of the business.

In closing, we are hot and loving it. We’ve met every challenge that we’ve set.
We’ve worked smarter, we’ve grown stronger, we’ve exported our expertise to other offices and markets around the world, and we’ve gained international recognition for our achievements.

Provide a brief (up to 100 words) biography about the leader(s) of this nominated organization:

Ms. Oranat Asanasen has been the Managing Director of Saatchi & Saatchi since
1996. Her strategic thinking and innovative leadership combined with the creative
inspiration of Executive Creative Director, Jureeporn Thaidumrong, has led the
Bangkok office to its successful  position as the #1 Creative shop in Thailand and
to the #4 position regionally.

Oranat started her career in Market Research in 1974 and gained tremendous
experience over the years by working on the Client side for multinational firms
such as Avon (Marketing Director) and on the Agency side (J. Walter Thompson,
DDB Needham)  by working on a vast array of products and services including well-known brands such as P&G, Castrol, Lexus, Visa, Hewlett-Packard, Unilver, Spy Wine Cooler, Sylvania Lighting, Mead Johnson, Kodak, Volvo and McDonalds.

Jureeporn (Judee) started her career as a copywriter in 1990 with DY&R. She
became a Creative Director at Results Advertsing in 1997 and honed her creative
talents by working on and winning awards for Bank of Asia, BMW, Toshiba, Ray
Bans and many, many more.

The two women combined forces when Judee joined Saatchi in 2002 as Executive
Creative Director. Together they have grown billings and driven Saatchi Bangkok’s
incredible creative rise from  61st place regionally  in 2001 to 4th place in 2003.
