Richard Ramlall serves as Senior Vice President, Strategic External Affairs, Programming, and International Marketing at the broadband services provider RCN Corporation. He is responsible for investor relations, public relations, government and regulatory relations, strategic issues, cable TV programming, and international marketing. His responsibilities also cover regulatory due diligence and approvals on all merger-and-acquisition deals. He works directly with Peter Aquino, RCN's President and CEO, on key corporate strategic initiatives and new business development.
From June 1999 to March 2005, Richard served as Senior Managing Director and Executive Vice President of Spencer Trask Media and Communications Group, LLC (a division of New York-based venture capital firm Spencer Trask & Company). From March 1997 to June 1999, Richard served as Vice President and Managing Director for strategy, marketing, and international government affairs for Bechtel Telecommunications. Prior to that, Richard was Executive Director, International Business Affairs, for Bell Atlantic International. He spent over 18 years at Bell Atlantic in a number of areas, including strategy, corporate development, finance, marketing, operations, regulatory, and legal. In 1990, Richard was selected to serve a one-year appointment under the Presidential Exchange Executive Program of the White House in Washington, D.C.
Richard serves on the Boards of Directors of Evolving Systems, Inc., Gateway Communications Services, Inc., TelecomHUB, and the Alzheimers Association's National Capital Area Chapter. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and an MBA (Technology Management) from the University of Maryland.
