Nomination Title: Kineticom: Redefining the Staffing Agency Model in the Talent Age

   1. Tell the story about what this nominated agency, brokerage, or satellite office or facility achieved in 2004 (up to 500 words). Focus on specific accomplishments, and relate these accomplishments to past performance or industry norms. Be sure to mention obstacles overcome, innovations or discoveries made, and outcomes:

Kineticom took a new approach to a very old business – the people business.
They formed a start-up staffing agency focused on the telecom sector at a time
when both the staffing and telecom industries were compressing.  In the midst of a
massive downturn across global high-tech markets in a receding economy,
Kineticom redefined the agency model – and their rapid success and elated client
base prove that they’ve gotten it right.

Proof Points:

500% Revenue Growth

The numbers tell the story.  Founded in 2000, Kineticom grew from scratch to over
$50 million in revenue in 5 short years.  They’ve had profitable revenue growth of
almost 500% from 2003-2004, with margins well above the industry average.

Victory in the war for talent

Kineticom understood that permanent employment would continue to fall by the
wayside as companies realized the value of the contingent workforce.  They carved
out a wise niche within the telecom industry and quickly got out in front.
Recognizing the ROI connected to “talent on demand”, Kineticom quickly became
home to the world’s best freelance technical talent and has created best practices
around contractor and client relationships.

Led by a young, but savvy executive team, Kineticom has built a culture of risk-
takers who believe in themselves and put everything on the line to make things
happen.  The company has become a talent center where freelance technical
experts flourish.  They have established lasting, two-way relationships with the
contractors who are fully engaged, love what they do and readily communicate
their enthusiasm to their peers.

Lasting, intimate customer relationships

Kineticom has built a network of top-notch technical talent in an industry where
such highly technical positions are inherently difficult to fill due to the
shortage of U.S.-based technical talent.  Telecom customers have sophisticated growth requirements – and need an agency that appreciates the intricacies of their
business.

Part of Kineticom’s success formula has been the speed and scale on which they
operate.  Kineticom has proven to their clients that they are a national source for
contract-based temporary talent.  They respond on a dime to a client’s immediate
needs – they can find a stellar RF engineer in Tuskegee, Alabama or deploy a
team of drive testers in Princeton, New Jersey (the “can-you-hear-me-now” guys)
overnight.  Kineticom’s client list includes: Marconi, Flextronics, Ericsson, T-
Mobile, Cingular, Qualcomm, TruePosition and others.

Progressive, Aggressive Partnering

Kineticom has demonstrated the value of progressive partnerships by building
credibility and trust in stages through impeccable delivery.  As an example,
Kineticom was hungry to establish competitive immunity with a particular client,
so they bit off a small piece of their overall human capital business and proved
their capability incrementally by consistently connecting companies with well-
qualified and motivated people.  Kineticom continued to win bigger and bigger
pieces of the client’s business until they became the sole provider of human
capital solutions.

In short order, Kineticom has made their articulated company vision a reality:
their clients recognize Kineticom as their most valued provider of people services.
