Nomination Title: Articulate Studio '13

1. Tell the story about this nominated product or service (up to 525 words). Describe its function, features, benefits, and performance to date:

Introduced in October 2013, Articulate® Studio ’13 makes creating courses from PowerPoint content easier and faster than ever. Widely considered the standard in rapid authoring, Studio ’13 lets course developers quickly create, narrate, and annotate e-learning content in PowerPoint; add quizzes and surveys to courses with unprecedented ease; build media-rich interactions for courses by simply filling out a form; and easily create training screencasts.

Articulate Presenter ’13, Articulate Quizmaker ’13, and Articulate Engage ’13 all come with a built-in character library, allowing course developers to build character-driven content without hunting for art online.

The redesigned user interface and workflows in Studio ’13 products reduce clicks and speed development time, and performance improvements let course developers publish courses up to five times faster. And with the 10 new Engage ’13 interactions, they can now easily build 20 interactions by simply filling out a form. Studio ’13 also includes free-form question types, allowing course developers to easily transform any content on a slide into an assessment or interaction. To build a free-form drag-and-drop interaction, they simply add objects to a slide, then use the form-based editor to assign drag items and drop targets.

Engage ’13, Presenter ’13, and Quizmaker ’13 now share a single unified player, delivering an even better learning experience. Learners navigate with one set of controls and view slide titles, quiz questions, and interaction steps on a single, consolidated menu. Course developers can publish courses to multiple formats so learners can interact with content on their iPads, desktops, and other devices. Studio ’13 publishes to Flash, which is supported by a vast majority of personal computers, and to the Articulate Mobile Player, a native iOS application that optimizes the viewing experience on iPads. Studio ’13 also publishes to HTML5, an increasingly popular format for delivering content with rich multimedia.

Getting e-learning content to learners everywhere is simple with Articulate Studio ’13. Studio ’13 includes industry-leading Section 508 support, making courses widely accessible to learners with disabilities. And with the new translation support, course developers can easily localize player elements, interactions, and quizzes for learners around the globe. Studio ’13 products even support right-to-left languages, including double-byte character sets required for Chinese, Japanese, and Korean.

Articulate also added a new product to the Studio ’13 suite: Articulate Replay. It’s the easiest way to create engaging screencasts for e-learning courses. With Replay, course developers can create screencasts with their webcam and add virtually any multimedia with a few clicks. Replay also includes lower thirds, picture-in-picture, and other features that give screencasts a professional look.
