Nomination Title: Skyhigh Cloud Security Manager

1. Tell the story about this nominated product or service (up to 525 words). Describe its function, features, benefits, and performance to date:

IDC has proclaimed that the disruptive impact of “Cloud” will rival that of the PC. And every analyst firm, including IDC, Gartner, and Forrester has pointed to concerns about data security and privacy being the biggest impediment to cloud adoption. In addition to its direct impact, cloud is the strategic enabler of mobile, social, and big data. More tactically, "Cloud" today is a Board-level concern with discussions like, "we heard our competitors saved 5 percent of their IT budget using cloud services, why don't we?” and, "Stanford Hospital was levied a $250M fine because patient data was leaked out using Sendspace (a cloud service); I hope we are not using it!” Moreover breaches at Target, Nieman Marcus, and others are forcing the C-suite to become aware of the perils of cloud just as they are becoming aware of the imperative to harness the promise of cloud. Organizations of all sizes and in every industry are grappling with this dilemma.

Skyhigh Networks, the Cloud Visibility and Enablement Company, addresses that specific need. It exposes the privacy, security, and compliance risks as corporate data moves to the cloud and malware is distributed from the cloud. It enables organizations to improve business agility, enhance employee productivity, and reduce costs by bringing security, compliance, and governance to the use of cloud services, And as spend on public cloud services, both approved and unapproved, aka “Shadow IT”, starts to reach 30% of IT budgets (as documented by PwC) it enforces enterprise policies on this new IT footprint. IT can now empower employees to use cloud services that help grow business while ensuring compliance with their corporate policies.

The Skyhigh Cloud Security Manager supports the entire cloud adoption lifecycle, providing unparalleled visibility, analytics, and policy-based control. Specifically, the product (launched in Feb 2013):

a) Shines a light on Shadow IT by giving a comprehensive view into an organization’s use of all cloud services (10-11x more cloud services are used than anticipated by IT).
b) Delivers an objective risk assessment (derived from 50+ attributes) for every cloud service in use to quickly identify data, business and legal risks of the service.
c) Analyzes the use of all cloud services to identify opportunities for IT to broker appropriate services, reduce risk and costs by consolidating subscriptions, and highlight anomalous behavior indicative of an account breach, data leak, or compliance violation.
d) Enforces the organization's policies on the use of over 5,000 cloud services by providing access control, data encryption, data loss prevention, and detailed live audit for forensic and compliance purposes.
e) Enables secure mobile access to approved cloud services without requiring an agent or footprint on the device or any change to the service.

Skyhigh’s Cloud Security Manager is a zero friction, hosted service, with a simple and compelling consumption experience.

In the year since the Skyhigh Cloud Security Manager has been on the market, Skyhigh has helped more than 200 customers (more than 6M users across these customers) understand and reduce their risk from cloud services. Skyhigh has been recognized as a Gartner Cool Vendor, one of the most Innovative Companies at RSA, amongst a number of other awards.
