Nomination Title: ExtraHop Networks Continues APM Innovation Streak

Tell the story about what this nominated organization achieved since January 1 2012 (up to 525 words). Focus on specific accomplishments, and relate these accomplishments to past performance or industry norms. Be sure to mention obstacles overcome, innovations or discoveries made, and outcomes:

Most companies that achieve record results in product development can’t sustain their momentum in subsequent years. But not ExtraHop. After it announced the first-if-its kind Application Inspection Triggers (AIT) technology, which won American Business Award gold in 2012, the company has continued its streak of innovation, providing companies with solutions that go beyond traditional application performance management (APM) and into the realm of true IT operational intelligence.

ExtraHop’s strategy for monitoring applications and infrastructure is built around real-time, intelligent IT operations. Previously, when a technology problem occurred, IT organizations didn’t know where to look for its source. Trying to resolve issues ranging from slight latency to massive downtime was like looking for a needle in a haystack. Only ExtraHop provides the granular level of application and infrastructure insight, and therefore operational intelligence, to transform IT into a proactive entity, capable of answering the question: “What is happening in my environment right now?”

In 2012 and 2013, ExtraHop introduced a number of industry-first product enhancements to drive its continued innovation:

- The first policy-based precision packet-capture solution.
- The first agentless application and infrastructure monitoring solution for Microsoft Hyper-V.
- The first agentless solution verified as Citrix Ready® for Citrix XenDesktop®, Citrix XenApp™, and Citrix NetScaler® for Citrix VDI monitoring.

These enhancements pay dividends for ExtraHop’s customers. Practice Fusion, the U.S.’s fastest-growing Electronic Medical Record (EMR) community, knew only ExtraHop could provide the visibility into its network, web, database, and storage tiers to help the company successfully migrate a portion of its web application from a physical to a virtual (P2V) infrastructure, saving Practice Fusion $75,000.

John Hluboky, VP of Technical Operations at Practice Fusion, attests to the product’s capabilities:

“There’s no other APM solution like the ExtraHop platform on the market today in terms of real-time visibility across tiers. ExtraHop has helped us move from a reactive mode of operations to proactively resolving issues. We’ve achieved the ‘holy grail’ of IT Operations where we’re not just remediating problems faster, but preventing problems from occurring in the first place.”

Recognizing ExtraHop’s potential for market disruption, a number of industry leaders have forged partnerships with the company to better service their clients:

- In May, 2012, ExtraHop launched the Citrix VDI monitoring solution. The power of this innovation is summed up by John Smith, Netscaler/Citrix Architect at a major healthcare information technology company: “ExtraHop is a great APM tool but it is also a great network monitoring tool and has value to every branch of my IT department. This is not a product whose value can be judged by finding its bubble in a scatter plot. I have not even scratched the surface of what this product can do.”

- ExtraHop also announced certification for the Cisco Unified Computing System Express (UCS-E) and partnered with Splunk to service joint customers with  visible and actionable IT operations data.

ExtraHop’s 2012 figures speak for themselves:

- 250+ percent increase in total new sales.
- 60+ percent increase in total customers.
- 50+ percent uptick in partnership base.

ExtraHop’s nonstop flow of critical hardware enhancements is elevating the  company beyond the standard APM arena, with no plans of slowing down.
